Last updated: October 24, 2026

The S.A.V.E.S Project (Special Needs, Autism, Vulnerable Person, Elderly, and Safety) is a Michigan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This policy explains what information we collect through savesproject.com, our participant registry, and the S.A.V.E.S Responder app, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Participant registry. When a participant, parent, guardian or caregiver enrolls in the S.A.V.E.S Project, we collect the information they choose to provide on the registration form. This can include names, photos, addresses, emergency contacts, physical descriptions, communication needs, medical considerations, and de-escalation and safety information.

Members and partners. For members, partner agencies and volunteers, we collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, agency details and sign-in information.

S.A.V.E.S Responder app. For first responders who use the app, we collect name, badge number, department, mobile phone number, and a record of app activity, such as participant lookups, missing person reports and Blue Envelope contact logs.

Website visitors. Like most websites, our site and its hosting providers may automatically record basic technical information such as browser type, device type and pages visited.

2. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use information only to run the S.A.V.E.S Project's programs, including to:
- help first responders recognize, communicate with and safely assist registered participants
- support searches for registered participants who are reported missing
- maintain the Blue Envelope Program
- send program communications, reminders and alerts
- manage member, partner and volunteer accounts
- keep our systems secure and keep records of who accessed participant information

3. WHO WE SHARE INFORMATION WITH

Participant registry information is shared only with participating law enforcement and first responder agencies that have signed an agreement with the S.A.V.E.S Project, and only through our secured systems for the purposes described above.

We use trusted service providers to host our website, store our data, and send text messages and email. They may handle information only to provide those services to us.

We may disclose information if required by law, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

4. TEXT MESSAGING (SMS) PRIVACY

Mobile phone numbers and text messaging consent collected through the S.A.V.E.S Responder app are used only to send S.A.V.E.S Responder incident messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except service providers that deliver the messages for us.
